    SCS was essentially my bible through my journey into healthier eating. I love the fact that it was so easy to navigate, with all sorts of recipes, and swaps, and even grocery lists that were broken down into categories making shopping simple and rather quick which was greatly appreciated. I am a self described nerd, and I couldn’t get enough of all the information behind foods that educated me on all they have to offer, both good and bad making it that much easier to make healthier decisions through out this process. The glossary pages are pretty much worn thin practically to the point of transparency due to my frequent use. Something I feel like we all struggle with when it comes to eating is the constant “self loathing” in a way after we cave and reach for that cupcake or that extra slice of pizza that we feel is sooooo necessary at the moment. After caving we are so distraught at the fact that we did that, and we beat ourselves up for the rest of the day, which is just useless and negative and quiet frankly terrible for ones mental health! I am a true believer in the “power of perspective” and Keri helped me achieve the ability to look at food in a different way, focusing on the positive and looking at what the food can do for me, rather than what I cant have. There is also this level of understanding and empathy for the day to day struggles we all face with food adversity, that I never get when reading other “dieting” books. Most of the time, they come off as judgmental, and preachy, filled with all these random things that you MUST HAVE and need to scour across the globe to obtain, as well as taking out a second mortgage on your house or the promise of your first born to purchase. There is always mention of what you need to have, but they really don’t go into why you need them. This is the solid and clear difference from SCS- I am stronger willed when picking my food because I am armed with knowledge. Ignorance is most certainly not bliss when it comes to food. Being aware is what can make or break your level of success when trying to make a full fledged change in the way we eat, what we choose to do for activities, and our all around health.

    I was a client of Keri’s a few years back and was so amazed with the results I got when working with her. I managed to lose 15 in 8 weeks! As mentioned, it’s been a few years since I’ve worked with her personally and I have managed to put all the weight (and then some) back on. I have tried many diets and workout plans since working with her, and what I realize now in reading her book is that it really is stress related. In the past, I attributed my weight gain to poor diet and lack of exercise, and while that is also a part of it I’ve also come to realize that the last year has been extremely stressful and that stress is taken a toll on me.

    I was so excited to hear about her new book that I immediately purchased it and am ready to take back control. Thank you Keri for being such a positive, motivating and inspirational person!

    So I waited a few weeks to write this review, just to get into this book and see results. The results: it works.

    I’m not going to say that I’ve tried all of the diets out there…because I haven’t. I am somewhat of a clean eater and don’t have to lose an excessive amount of weight (20 lbs or so) and this book really helped. The three day cleanse to start is great (not hard at all) and reminded me of what “good eating” was…kind of like readjusting yourself and cleaning out your closet. This was easy and I did lose the weight…still going!!

    The exercise plan is easy and really fun (I don’t like exercise) and I do yoga on a regular basis so that part was very welcome.

    I have to say, this is the easiest way that I have lost the pounds that haven’t budged in 4 years…

    Great way to readjust to a healthy living practice without being extreme and without feeling deprived. You will feel full the whole time and the nutrients seems to satisfy your body in a way that your appetite is curbed. This book will take you back to basic eating (no preservatives, not a lot of carbs, getting lots of fresh food and vitamins ) and exercises….and you will realize that this is how people actually lived years ago.

    Nice clean up, highly recommended. It’s even very easy to read and understand…good format. Good book for someone that doesn’t want a complicated health book that puts pressure on a person.

    I took one star off because although the meal plans are great, you have to buy packs of things and food can go to waste (who buys 8 walnut halves…and then has nothing to do with the rest of the walnuts?) I would have liked if the following week incorporated items that were leftover from other meal plans so that I could use up everything. Because of this, I did a few days in the meal plans two days in a row.
